WEEKLY LECTURE with Prof. Jan Cingel

Serious challenges are in front of Europe was the conclusion of the eighth weekly lecture which was a delivered by Jan Cingel from Slovak Atlantic Commission. According to Cingel, migrant crisis caused Visegrad Group (Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary) to become more noticeable and loud within EU especially in the way they treat this issue. The situation of our continent is additionally complicated after yesterday’s incident between Turkey and Russia. Students actively participated with comments and questions which were mainly focused on the possibilities and consequences of massive migrant influx in the Balkans and Europe.

СЕДМИЧНО ПРЕДАВАЊЕ на Илија Џугуманов

Joining NATO will undoubtedly be of benefit for Macedonia, both in terms of economic and in terms of political – security situation. This was the conclusion of this lecture. After the introductory speech by Ilija Djugumanov from Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia, students debated on practical examples of the usefulness of being a NATO member, but also addressed the sensitive issue on the name issue which still hampers the full membership of our country in the Alliance.

SECOND WEEKLY LECTURE with Prof. Ivanka Dodovska

The latest developments in the Middle East and the influx of refugees in Western Europe via the Balkans represent tectonic shifts in the world order. This was the conclusion of the second weekly lecture in the framework of the School for Public Policy “Mother Theresa”. This lecture was delivered by prof. Ivanka Dodovska who added that these events will surely affect Europe, including the Balkans, but so far no one can predict how and to what extent. The students got involved with their views and comments, and we particularly interested whether EU could anticipate all this in order to react effective and promptly.

FIRST WEEKLY LECTURE with Prof. Andonov

Оn 21st of October, 2015, another weekly lecture was held within the framework of the School for Public Policy “Mother Theresa”. At this lecture, Professor Oliver Andonov gave a presentation titled “National interests in the geo-politics of the Balkans”. He explained the students the role of the national and public interests in the geo-political developments and their impact on the world order. Emphasis was given on the geo-politics and the Balkans, both in terms of political developments, but also in terms of the security issues. The lecture by Prof. Andonov undoubtedly triggered discussion among the students whose questions were mostly related specifically to Republic of Macedonia and its positioning and impact of the geo-political movement.

FIRST SESSION OF SCHOOL FOR PUBLIC POLICY “MOTHER THERESA”

On 15th of October 2015, the School for Public Policy “Mother Theresa” organized a debate at which as a mian speaker was invited Captain (N) Rumen Radev, Chief of the NATO Liaison Office in Skopje His lecture was titled “ISIS, NATO and Regional Security”. It was devoted to the main security challenges that NATO faces in terms of the threats coming from ISIS and the consequences from the disturbances in Syria and in the Middle East.

DISCUSSION with Mr. Zoran Jolevski

On 7th of October 2015, the School of Public Policy “Mother Theresa” organized a debate session with the actual Minister of defense – Mr. Zoran Jolevski. The session was devoted on the Macedonian path towards full integration in NATO as well as the main benefits and advantages of being part of the North Atlantic Alliance. After the debate, a Q&A session followed with question and comments from different perspectives.
