
MIPEX Training for Better Inclusion of Foreigners in the Western Balkans Countries
NGO „Group 484” from Belgrade, Serbia, in the period 1-2 March 2016, organized training for NGOs representatives working on the “MIPEX” research and for the state servants from the respective ministries in charge for legal migration. The Center for Research and Policy Making participated the training with its representative, accompanied by Ministry of Labour and Social Policy’ representative, Dushanka Karamitre from the department for integration of refugees and foreigners. During the training were presented practical examples and ideas how to improve inclusion and access to services for legal migrants in the Western Balkan countries in all spheres of society: health, education, family reunification, access to social protection, exercise of cultural rights and political participation. In the context of the Republic of Macedonia, it was stressed that the country must adequately addressed the challenges in the area of social protection and education policies which will aim faster integration of foreign nationals in the social mainstream, without violating cultural values and characteristics of foreign nationals. As a final activity of this year’s “MIPEX” research, a meeting with stakeholders from the European Comission in charge of monitoring the integration process of the Western Balkans is scheduled. The meeting aims at informing EC stakeholders with the national MIPEX results and exchanging views and proposals on how to improve investigated gaps in order to meet EU standards in terms of legal migration policies.
