Exploring Transport Initiatives in the Western Balkans

Yesterday, we visited the Transport Community in Belgrade, along with MP Velika Stojkova Serafimova, MP Nenad Kocikj, and parliamentary staff Danco Janevski. During this visit, we were introduced with the Five-year Rolling Work Plan for Development of the Indicative TEN-T Extension of the comprehensive and core network in the Western Balkans, as well as the Strategy for Sustainable and Smart Mobility in the Western Balkans.

What our region urgently requires is an enhancement of the rail network, recognizing it as a pivotal agent for transportation transformation.
We must embark on the modernization of the existing infrastructure and ensure continuous maintenance. Given that transportation significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, which know no boundaries, our vision entails establishing a cleaner, safer, smarter, greener, more resilient, and sustainable transport network spanning the entire region.

This activity is part of the Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe Energy, Transport and Climate Protection in South-East Europe (ORF-ETC) and its program component related to capacity development of informal cross-party Green Parliamentary Groups from the Western Balkans on energy, transport and climate protection by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and CRPM.
The Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe-Energy, Transport and Climate Protection (ORF-ETC) is commissioned by German Government and co-funded by the EU.
