Age Contact Perceptions How Schools Shape Relations Between Ethnicities

The aim of the study was to gain a better understanding of prevailing perceptions and attitudes among secondary school students in regards to their peers from other ethnic groups. The study allowed young people to express their views on an issue that concerns them directly, but until now has been discussed mainly by adults. Furthermore, projects, programmes and policies in this field have been developed and implemented largely, if not exclusively, without taking into account views and attitudes of the primary target group. This study is a first step toward a more thorough understanding of current ethnic relations in schools, including young people’s viewpoints.
