We are thrilled to announce that the SMART Financial Management Academy for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) has officially started in North Macedonia today!
In North Macedonia, the Academy is being implemented by the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), ensuring local delivery of expert-led training for civil society organizations. As part of the SMART Balkans initiative, this accredited program—supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA) and implemented by CPCD, IDM, and CRPM—is designed to strengthen the financial management capacities of CSOs across the Western Balkans, promoting transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability in increasingly complex operational environments.
📍 20 representatives from local CSOs have begun the program, which runs from September to November 2025. The training is delivered in the local language by certified trainers and financial experts and provides hands-on learning experience tailored to real-world challenges.
Participants will gain in-depth knowledge and practical tools in key areas such as:
✔ Budgeting and financial planning
✔ Legal and regulatory frameworks for CSOs
✔ Internal controls and financial reporting
✔ Project financial management and donor compliance
✔ Taxation, procurement procedures, and audit preparation
This is just the beginning! The Academy will continue to roll out across the region, empowering CSOs to improve financial governance, compliance, and sustainability while contributing to a stronger and more resilient civil society sector.
