The CRPM is proud to be part of the consortium of seven countries — Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, and Greece, a collaborative initiative designed to strengthen climate resilience in local communities, as part of Interegg IPA ADRION project BEALERT.

What is BEALERT?

BEALERT is an innovative early warning system, tackling shared challenges posed by climate change, including floods, earthquakes, and forest fires, by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve local preparedness for natural disasters. The platform offers a comprehensive approach to risk management by using cutting-edge technology to enhance decision-making processes and community engagement. Key features of the BEALERT system include:

  • AI-powered predictions: These enhance preparedness by providing advanced forecasting models;
  • Big data analysis and interactive maps: Offering real-time, localized updates to keep communities informed;
  • Two-way communication: Citizens can report emergencies or request help, while local authorities can share important updates, such as road closures and flood alerts;
  • Localized decision-making tools: Tailored for local risk managers to better address specific community needs;
  • Accessibility for vulnerable groups: Ensuring that early warning methods are inclusive and accessible for at-risk populations.

The BEALERT platform will be piloted in real-life scenarios to ensure its effectiveness and practical application. The project emphasizes capacity-building for local authorities and risk managers, fostering collaboration among emergency responders to enhance community resilience.

A Safer, More Resilient Future

By sharing resources, best practices, and innovative solutions, the BEALERT project is paving the way for safer communities in the face of climate-related threats. Through this collaborative effort, BEALERT aims to create a more resilient future for vulnerable populations across the Adriatic-Ionian region.
