The Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) participated in the 4th Steering Committee Meeting of the BEALERT project, held from 8-10 July 2026 in Klanjec, Croatia. The meeting brought together project partners from across the Adriatic-Ionian region to assess implementation progress, coordinate upcoming activities, and agree on the next phase of project delivery.

Over the course of three days, partners reviewed the progress achieved across all work packages and discussed the activities planned for the coming months. Particular attention was given to project management and coordination, communication and dissemination activities, as well as the implementation of upcoming technical developments and pilot actions.

BEALERT is developing an integrated digital platform and mobile application designed to improve preparedness and response to climate-related disasters. By combining artificial intelligence, big data analytics, interactive mapping, and real-time information exchange, the platform will support local authorities and civil protection actors in making faster and more informed decisions during emergency situations.

An important feature of the system is its two-way communication model, enabling citizens to both receive timely alerts and provide relevant information directly to local authorities. This exchange of information is expected to enhance situational awareness, strengthen coordination among stakeholders, and contribute to more effective disaster risk management.

As a project partner, CRPM contributes its expertise in stakeholder engagement, policy development, communication, and dissemination, ensuring that project activities are effectively connected with local communities, public institutions, and other relevant actors. Through its involvement, CRPM supports the development of practical, evidence-based solutions that strengthen local resilience to the growing impacts of climate change.

The Steering Committee meeting also served as an opportunity to reinforce cooperation among project partners and ensure coordinated implementation of the next project phase, including the development and testing of the BEALERT platform in pilot areas across the programme region.

Climate-related disasters are becoming more frequent and more severe across Europe, highlighting the need for integrated early warning systems that combine technological innovation with active community participation. Through BEALERT, partners are working together to develop a solution that not only improves emergency preparedness but also strengthens cooperation between citizens, local authorities, and civil protection services.

CRPM remains committed to contributing to regional initiatives that promote innovation, climate resilience, and evidence-based public policies for safer and more resilient communities.
